United Registry / Homeward Bound microchips and microchip scanners
When you choose to microchip your animals, you have made a commitment to do more than just care for these animals: you have taken steps to protect them as well. By ordering the Homeward Bound microchip by Avid you are also helping animals less fortunate than yours, a portion of the proceeds will be used for relief of animals in need and to advance education on animal related issues.
Included is everything you need to permanently microchip animals for identification. Each Microchip is about the same size as a grain of rice and is coded with a unique number that may be registered with our Companion Animal Recovery program. The microchip is injected between the shoulder blades under the skin, much like a vaccine. Once the pet is injected and your registration application submitted your animal will be permanently registered in a nationwide database.
The Homeward Bound microchip is not activated until it is scanned. Each unit comes complete with a sterile microchip, pre-loaded injection system, the animal's ID code, and registration information.
These microchips are an excellent idea for breeders of pure breed animals and pet owners. They ensure that your animals can always be identified.
The Professional's System
A chip is only as good as the system that tracks it! The Homeward Bound Chip by Avid is backed by United All Breed Registry and Avid Companion Animal Recovery program, The Professional Pet Industry, and Homeward Bound Network.
When you choose to microchip your pet, you have made a commitment to do more than just care for these animals; you have taken steps to protect them as well. The identification system provider you select should make an equal, if not greater, commitment.
United Registry supports an extensive network with a pet tracking database and backs up that system with a unique recovery program through professional state-based Pet Associations offering you a complete service.
The Homeward Bound system was designed with pet owners in mind. When a chip is injected into the animal, the Chip number is entered into your pet's records and is also recorded on the animals registration sheet, which is to be forwarded to United Registry. Each animal is then registered in the United Registry database and/or Avid PETtrac.
To ensure constant access to these records, United Registry not only stores data at its in house computer center, we go even further. United Registry and Avid have established disaster recovery programs with Pet Retailers and Pet Associations throughout the nation. Under these special agreements, the database is officially backed up in multiple computer systems.
Supporting You When Your Pet Is Lost
The purpose behind this system is simple. We want to be able to trace every animal you have chipped and registered. In the event of a disaster in your area, which leads to the destruction of your records, United Registry is able to reconstruct the microchip records for all registered animals.
